- to enable organisations to monitor the performance of their key performance indicators, regularly;
- to facilitate involvement in self-assessing the practice and performance of parts of an organisation and/ or the organisation as a whole;
- to indicate the organisation’s position against the EFQM Excellence Model.
BQFsnapshot is used: by senior management teams and Performance Improvement/ Quality Managers, and consultants.
BQFsnapshot was launched: as version 3.2 in 2002 with the upgrade versions 3.3 and 3.4 being introduced in 2004 as a result of customer feedback.

BQFsnapshot's core framework:
- 64 quality statements, in either Public Sector or Corporate terminology, that represent the practice implicit in the 8 Concepts of Excellence;
- workbooks in either terminology to enable individuals to note, against the 64 quality statements, their perceptions of strengths, areas for improvement, supporting evidence and a score for each quality statement.
BQFsnapshot's software features:
- screens to record the consensus score for each quality statement with notes of the agreed strengths, areas for improvement and supporting evidence;
- bar chart screens to show the position against various themes;
- an automated draft self-assessment report covering the 8 Concepts of Excellence;
- the position, as determined by self-evaluation, against the criterion of the EFQM Excellence Model with an automated draft self-assesment report;
- improvement action points for each quality statement and an action plan feature that sorts the action points to create overall plans or plans for responsibilities or specific projects;
- a Balanced Scorecard feature to manage key performance indicators with a KPI performance report;
- many useful features to collate, manipulate and output the data stored as a result of self-assessment;
